Sepik River Fast (Most Time Efficient Route)

Do you want to experience the Sepik River but you are limited in time? Then this is the solution you may need. Traveling on the Sepik River is an unforgettable experience and a fascinating journey on a real canoe allowing you to visit remote places of the area. 

In the valley of Sepik River village architecture and crafts are very unique - you won't be able to find something like that in any other place in the world. Papuan classic: the best masks, drums, feathers of bird-of-paradise and the skin of a crocodile - Sepic Puk Puk. 

Itinerary:

DAY 1: ARRIVE WEWAK - PAGIWI - KAMANIMBIT

Upon arrival in Wewak, you will be met by our guide and transported on a 4wheel drive transport traveling over the Prince Alexander Ranges through Passam, Kubalia, Yangoru, Hayfield/Maprik, Wosera to reach Pagwi boat stop, from there onto a motorized canoe (river transport and travel to Kamindimbit. Here is a cluster of three villages: Yenchan, Palimbei, and Kanganaman, today on your way you will stop to visit Kanganaman village before proceeding to overnight at Kamanimbit village. (lunch and dinner included today).

DAY 2: SEPIK RIVER

Today after breakfast you board the same motorized canoe and travel upper river, your first stop will be to visit Palimbe village, then on past Korogu village, you’re next stop will be at Avatip village, Avatip is the biggest village along the Sepik river with a population of 5000+, we stop here giving you time to stretch your legs and take a walk through the village before continuing to Wagu Village, Wagu is where you will overnight. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included today. 

DAY 3: SEPIK RIVER

We rise early this morning and take a river cruise into Wagu lakes to watch the Birds of Paradise at play, enjoy this morning with bird watching before returning back to our lodge for breakfast.

After breakfast, again board the motorized canoe to Maliwei village for our last village tour, we visit another spirit house and hear their story of the beliefs and rituals connected to the spirit house, we continue past Yambun village and onward to Pagwi boat stop. Our river tour ends and here you board your land transport for your ride back to Wewak town and you check into the Inn Wewak Boutique hotel. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included today. 

 DAY 4: DEPART WEWAK FOR PORT MORESBY

Transfer from the hotel this morning to the airport for your flight to Port Moresby. Upon arrival in Port Moresby, you will transfer to your hotel for the evening. 

DAY 5: DEPART PORT MORESBY

This morning transfer from your hotel to the airport for your international flight out.
